Rocket Mortgage, in collaboration with Rock Entertainment Group and Topnotch Management, has announced a two-year agreement to become the presenting partner of Tennis in the Land. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 250 tournament, scheduled for August 17-24, 2024, in Cleveland’s Flats West Bank, will now be known as “Tennis in The Land powered by Rocket Mortgage.”
Tennis in the Land powered by Rocket Mortgage is recognized as the largest annual professional women’s sporting event in northeast Ohio. It offers fans an intimate setting to watch professional women’s tennis. The tournament serves as a precursor to the US Open and has been held in Cleveland since 2021, experiencing significant growth each year. Due to increased demand, the event relocated to a larger venue in Flats West Bank downtown Cleveland. In its first year at this new location, seven out of twelve sessions sold out.

The tournament attracts top players from around the world annually. Previous participants include notable names such as 2017 US Open Champion Sloane Stephens, 2020 Australian Open Champion Sofia Kenin, and 2022 WTA Finals Champion Caroline Garcia. The event has also featured American favorites like Emma Navarro, Shelby Rogers, Peyton Stearns and Cleveland native Lauren Davis. In 2023 alone, thirteen of the top fifty players globally competed in Cleveland.
As part of an ongoing initiative led by Topnotch Management alongside various partners including Rocket Mortgage, contributions will be made to Changeover—a non-profit organization dedicated to community improvement through tennis court transformations. This year’s project involves resurfacing Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center’s tennis courts with funding from these partners. This initiative aims to provide additional mental and physical fitness opportunities for residents. Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center is associated with Advantage Cleveland—a program offering youth activities centered on tennis along with wellness, fitness literacy STEM education programs.
