Xbox partners with Barclays for new no-fee credit card offering rewards

Xbox, Barclays, and Mastercard have announced the launch of the Xbox Mastercard, marking Xbox's first co-branded credit card in the United States. The card will be available with no annual fee and offers rewards redeemable on Xbox games, streaming services, and dining delivery.

The Xbox Mastercard will initially be offered to qualified Xbox Insiders across all 50 states starting September 21, with a broader public release planned for 2024. Users can earn a bonus of 5,000 points after their first purchase and three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if they make a purchase within 180 days of opening their account.

Dave McCarthy, CVP Xbox Player Services, stated: “We’ve heard feedback from the Xbox community that they want more ways to get value for their purchases. We’re excited to partner with Barclays and Mastercard to expand the ways Xbox players can earn rewards for gaming.”

Barclays US Consumer Bank is behind the issuance of this new credit card. CEO Denny Nealon expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with both brands: “We’re excited to partner with Xbox and Mastercard to tap into the passion and enthusiasm of the Xbox community."

The partnership between Mastercard and Microsoft aims to enhance digital commerce experiences through innovations in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity solutions. Sherri Haymond from Mastercard commented on this collaboration: “From new ways to personalize your card, to rewarding Xbox players with experiences they love, we’re thrilled to be collaborating with Xbox and Barclays.”

For those interested in applying for the card or learning more about becoming an Xbox Insider, further information is available on the official channels.
