Xbox introduces co-branded credit card in U.S., expands player benefits

In September 2023, Xbox Insiders were given early access to the Xbox Mastercard, marking Xbox's introduction of its first co-branded credit card in the United States. This card, issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank, is now available across all 50 states for qualified U.S. residents aged 18 and older.

The Xbox Mastercard does not charge an annual fee and offers a bonus of 5,000 card points after the initial purchase, equating to a $50 value. It can be used with contactless payments and digital wallets, designed to integrate into players' lifestyles while offering card points and benefits for purchases at the Microsoft Store and everyday transactions. The card is available in five iconic designs and allows customization with players' Xbox gamertag.

New and existing cardmembers can benefit from three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new Game Pass members following their first purchase. Additionally, it provides 5X points on eligible products at the Microsoft Store, 3X points on select streaming and dining delivery services, and 1X point for other purchases. Cardmembers have access to their FICO® Credit Score at no cost along with Mastercard network benefits such as ID Theft Protection™, Zero Liability Protection, and Global Services for emergency assistance.

Further advantages are available today: two three-month codes to gift Game Pass Ultimate to friends or family upon spending $7,000 within the first year of account opening; an upgrade to Level 2 of Microsoft Rewards; three free months of Spotify Premium Individual (for new Spotify Premium users only); more redemption options for card points including consoles and accessories purchases.

Xbox has collaborated with Barclays and Mastercard to integrate gaming passion into everyday spending while enhancing the experience through more choices, added value, and flexibility. This initiative also marks progress in Microsoft's partnership with Mastercard aimed at safer commerce experiences.
