Barclays awards $255K to support resilient small businesses across the U.S

Barclays US Consumer Bank has announced the winners of its "Small Business Big Wins" promotion, with Ashland Birth Center from Wisconsin receiving the $60,000 grand prize. The center provides a range of midwife services and parental guidance throughout childbirth stages. It was chosen as the winner through a nationwide vote among ten finalists.

The competition saw over 4,750 small businesses sharing their stories of resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. These stories were showcased online for public voting between April 13 and April 22.

Nancy Parnella, Director of US Business Cards at Barclays, stated, “Throughout this pandemic, the small business community has been forced to pivot and adapt during unprecedented times.” She emphasized Barclays' commitment to supporting small businesses as they are crucial to local economies.

The promotion awarded a total of $255,000 to various businesses. Nordic-Knot from Virginia received $40,000 for second place; Superfit Hero from California got $20,000 for third place; and seven other finalists each received $5,000. Additionally, fifty participants won $2,000 each through a random drawing.

Savita Jones, owner of Ashland Birth Center expressed her gratitude: “I’m so happy and excited to share this with our staff and communities.”

The list of finalists includes businesses from diverse sectors such as pretzel baking in Virginia and athletic wear in California. For more details on these businesses or Barclays' offerings visit their respective websites.
