Washington, D.C. – Senator Tim Scott has urged the Biden administration to halt rulemaking activities and withdraw nominations before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. As Ranking Member of the committee, Scott emphasized compliance with federal retention laws for documents and records.
In a letter addressed to President Biden, Scott stated, “On November 6th, Americans across the country rejected your administration’s radical economic agenda and delivered President Trump and the incoming Republican Congress a clear mandate to usher in a new era of government.” He stressed that it is crucial for the current administration to facilitate a smooth transition for President Trump by January 20th.
Scott further asserted his position as the leading Republican on the committee: “I call on the agencies overseen by the Committee to cease all rulemaking...and to comply with federal record retention laws.” He also demanded that all pending nominations under the committee's jurisdiction be withdrawn. "I will not vote for, or advance, any nominees put forth in front of the Committee by your administration," he declared.
Scott expressed his anticipation for confirming nominees proposed by President Trump in the next Congress who would aim to foster economic opportunities nationwide.
