Bank of America is marking the 20th anniversary of its Neighborhood Builders program, a significant philanthropic initiative aimed at enhancing leadership in nonprofits across the United States. Since its inception in 2004, the program has directed over $346 million in grants to nearly 2,000 nonprofit organizations and supported more than 4,000 nonprofit leaders in developing their leadership capabilities.
AJ Barkley, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Bank of America, stated, "Empowering community leadership through training and resources is a powerful and unique way we’ve found to help nonprofits maximize their long-term impact in local communities. After 20 years, we continue to invest in this program because it leads to success for the nonprofits and the communities they support."
The Neighborhood Builders initiative provides multi-year flexible funding annually to local nonprofits while focusing on leadership training for nonprofit executives. Participants become part of a nationwide network where they can share challenges, best practices, and explore new opportunities. The program aims to enhance current operations of high-impact nonprofits while fostering innovation for future growth.
This year’s celebration includes recognition for 250 nonprofit leaders from over 150 organizations operating in nearly 100 communities throughout the U.S.
