Tim Scott discusses housing policy reforms with HUD nominee

Washington, D.C. – Ranking Member Tim Scott (R-S.C.) has shared his thoughts following a meeting with Scott Turner, who has been nominated by President Trump to serve as the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

In a statement released after the meeting, Scott expressed his satisfaction with the discussion held with Turner. "I enjoyed meeting today with Scott Turner, President Trump’s nominee to serve as the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development," said Scott.

The conversation between the two focused on addressing federal housing policies that are considered ineffective. They discussed ways to reduce bureaucratic obstacles and alleviate burdens on local communities. Additionally, they talked about enhancing investments in Opportunity Zones.

Scott also emphasized his commitment to working with colleagues in ensuring a swift consideration of Turner's nomination. "I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure his nomination is considered as quickly as possible,” he stated.
