The American Fintech Council (AFC) has announced its leadership for the 2025 Board of Directors. Martha O’Malley, Assistant General Counsel at Prosper Marketplace, will continue as Chair of the Board. Reflecting on the past year, O'Malley stated, “I am proud to chair the Board of Directors of AFC. I am excited for 2025, and all we will do together with our members, regulators, and legislators to foster an environment that encourages innovative and responsible products and provides consumers with greater choice and access to solutions. 2024 was a phenomenal year, and 2025 will be even better.”
Ezra Garrett from Oportun will chair the Budget Committee, while Ulrico Izaguirre from Affirm will lead the Policy and Advocacy Committee. Phil Goldfeder, CEO of AFC, expressed gratitude towards the directors: “We thank all of our Directors, both new and returning, for their tireless work to promote a responsible and innovative financial technology, banking, and financial services industry.”
AFC experienced significant growth in 2024 with an 85% increase in membership. The organization engaged extensively with federal agencies and state legislatures across the United States. It hosted numerous events including a Policy Summit Week attended by major stakeholders.
Looking ahead to 2025 under a new administration prioritizing fintech understanding, Ian P. Moloney of AFC commented on future plans: “With the addition of new team members and growing membership we are eager to continue our progress and drive pragmatic changes to build a safe future of finance.” AFC aims to collaborate with administrations on regulatory frameworks beneficial for innovation in financial services.
AFC continues its mission as a trade association representing leading fintech companies and banks focused on transparency and inclusivity in finance.
