The House Financial Services Committee is seeking public feedback on its "Make Community Banking Great Again" principles following a recent hearing. The hearing examined the current state of community banking in the United States and considered several legislative proposals.
The public is invited to submit comments by March 31, 2025, via email at fsc119@mail.house.gov.
During the session, the committee reviewed several bills:
- H.R. 940, Fair Audits and Inspections for Regulators (FAIR) Exams Act, sponsored by Chairman French Hill.
- H.R. 941, Small Lenders Exempt from New Data Excessive Reporting (LENDER) Act, also sponsored by Chairman Hill.
- H.R. 478, Promoting New Bank Formation Act, sponsored by Representative Andy Barr.
- H.R. 976, the 1071 Repeal to Protect Small Business Lending Act, sponsored by Representative Roger Williams.
- An unnamed bill regarding the Bank Loan Privacy Act, sponsored by Representative John Rose.
- Another unnamed bill concerning the Small Bank Holding Company Relief Act, sponsored by Representative Byron Donalds.
The committee's call for feedback reflects its interest in engaging with stakeholders and refining these legislative efforts.
