United States Senator Elizabeth Warren, who serves as the Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, has voiced her concerns regarding President Trump's recent tariffs on Canada and Mexico. In a statement released from Washington, D.C., Senator Warren criticized the tariffs for failing to fulfill promises made by President Trump.
"President Trump’s across-the-board tariffs on Canada and Mexico won’t boost American manufacturing, strengthen supply chains, or create jobs," said Warren. She highlighted that despite Donald Trump's commitment to lower costs from 'Day 1', working families now face potential price hikes as corporations may exploit these tariff announcements.
Warren also pointed out the lack of a concrete plan from the Trump Administration to address this issue. "The uncertainty around Trump’s tariffs is discouraging investment in American businesses and harming consumer confidence – and it’s setting the stage for more economic pain when working people need urgent relief," she stated.
Senator Warren's remarks reflect growing concerns about the impact of trade policies on both businesses and consumers.
