Navy Federal Credit Union has announced its collaboration with the television series "Military Makeover with Montel" to honor a decorated combat veteran. The veteran, a Purple Heart recipient and the first female of such distinction featured on the show, received a home renovation that included contributions from Navy Federal.
Kevin Parker, Vice President of Field Mortgage at Navy Federal, commented on the partnership: “This partnership with Military Makeover with Montel provides a great opportunity for Navy Federal to help a Veteran in need. It’s at the core of who we are and what we do.”
The renovation took place at the veteran's home in West Palm Beach, where she resides with her partner and pets. The makeover involved raising ceilings, replacing the roof, updating systems, and renovating both kitchen and bathrooms while also enhancing the backyard landscape.
Christy LaVallee, the homeowner who served as a military police officer in Afghanistan during the Global War on Terrorism, expressed her gratitude: “I’m not used to people giving me things or doing things for me. It was truly spectacular.”
Parker emphasized that this initiative is also about financial literacy and education: “For us, it’s about financial literacy and education. This is a good opportunity to spread awareness about VA mortgages and other financial products and services that are tailored to the military community.”
The transformation will be featured in "Military Makeover with Montel," airing Fridays at 7:30 AM EST on Lifetime TV. A special gift from Navy Federal will be unveiled on March 21st, with the final reveal set for March 28th.
Navy Federal Credit Union serves over 14 million members globally as a member-owned organization focused on meeting their financial needs. Membership is open to Department of Defense personnel and their families among others.
"Military Makeover with Montel," co-produced by Montel Williams alongside hosts Art Edmonds and designer Jennifer Bertrand, aims to transform homes for military families through community support.
