Navy Federal Credit Union has launched its annual Back-to-School campaign, aimed at supporting military families and underserved communities. The initiative, running from July 9 to August 6, encourages members and team members to contribute in various ways.
Employees at Navy Federal campuses in California, Florida, and Virginia are donating school supplies such as pencils, markers, and binders to local United Way chapters. Last year, the effort resulted in over $20,000 worth of supplies collected from campus employees.
In collaboration with Operation Homefront, 16 branches across the United States are providing backpacks to children from military families. This partnership aims to assist families facing financial challenges during transitions to new communities and schools. Retired Colonel Scott Arcuri of Operation Homefront stated that the support "offers tangible gratitude and financial relief" for deserving military families.
Navy Federal members can also participate by donating books through a Virtual Book Drive organized by United Through Reading. This drive helps maintain connections among military families separated by deployment or training. Keith Hoskins of Navy Federal emphasized the importance of these initiatives in building financial literacy and belonging within military communities.
Members are encouraged to use their Navy Federal debit and credit products for donations. Last year's campaign saw over 1,100 books donated.
Navy Federal Credit Union serves more than 14 million members globally as a not-for-profit organization focused on member needs. It employs over 25,000 people with a network of more than 365 branches worldwide.
United Through Reading supports military families by keeping them connected through storytime video recordings and books. Operation Homefront provides critical assistance to ensure strong military families thrive in their communities.
