Retired Brigadier General Omuso George named President & CEO of AMBA

The Association of Military Banks of America (AMBA) Board of Directors has appointed Omuso D. George as the new President and CEO. George, a retired U.S. Army Brigadier General, brings extensive experience in military finance and public sector consulting to his new role. He will be responsible for leading AMBA’s strategic membership growth, managing relationships with legislative, military, and financial industry stakeholders, and promoting continued innovation in military banking services.

“Omuso’s experience in military and veterans banking issues coupled with his ability to grasp the evolving transformations in delivering banking services make him the perfect fit for AMBA,” said Michael League, current Chair of AMBA’s Board of Directors. “He is perfectly positioned to lead AMBA into the future.”

George's leadership is expected to ensure that AMBA continues to thrive while serving the financial needs of service members, veterans, and their families. He succeeds Steven Lepper, who led AMBA for nine years before retiring.

Founded in 1959, AMBA is a non-profit association comprising banks operating on military installations and those serving military and veteran customers outside these installations. The association includes community banks and large multinational financial institutions insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). In 2024, AMBA celebrates sixty-five years of assisting its members in serving the financial needs of military personnel, veterans, and their families.
