SoFi has announced a new partnership with Templum to offer access to three private market funds. This move is aimed at expanding investment opportunities for retail investors interested in alternative asset classes. The new offerings include the Cosmos Fund, which focuses solely on SpaceX, along with the Pomona Investment Fund and StepStone Private Markets Fund.
A recent survey conducted by SoFi revealed that over 87% of retail investors are interested in investing in privately held companies. Among these, Open AI, SpaceX, and Epic Games were identified as the top three most valuable companies by respondents.
Anthony Noto, CEO of SoFi, stated, "Historically, the retail investor community has had few opportunities to invest in privately held companies, but we firmly believe in broadening access to potentially valuable opportunities." He added that this development marks another milestone in helping SoFi members achieve financial independence.
Chris Pallotta, CEO and Founder of Templum, commented on the partnership: "These private alternative asset offerings represent an exciting step in our partnership with SoFi, enabling their members to access a broader range of investment strategies."
This initiative follows other recent innovations by SoFi aimed at providing diverse investment options for its members. Earlier this year, SoFi launched alternative funds on its Invest platform and introduced a new Robo Investing offering.
Currently, these investments are available only to accredited investors through the SoFi App's Invest section.
SoFi Securities has a referral arrangement with Templum Markets allowing eligible members to access special purpose vehicles and private investment funds through Templum. Templum charges purchase fees for these services and compensates SoFi Invest with a portion of these fees.
Templum operates several business lines focused on transforming access and processes in alternative assets. It offers solutions designed to make investing in these assets as straightforward as public markets.
