EPC Executive Chairman Richard Hunt has expressed support for Congressman French Hill following his election as the new Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. Hunt highlighted Hill's decade-long experience and expertise in financial matters, noting his ability to work across party lines.
Hunt pointed out Hill's opposition to the Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Mandate Bill earlier this year. According to Hunt, Hill criticized the bill for lacking a relevant committee hearing and argued that it could harm small businesses and consumer security while benefiting large corporations.
Hunt stated, "The Durbin-Marshall Bill is nothing more than an experimental government takeover of your credit card." He emphasized EPC's intention to collaborate with Hill in advocating for policies that protect consumers, encourage innovation, and bolster the U.S. economy.
Additionally, Hunt underscored the importance of investing in new technologies and establishing national data security standards to enhance the payment system.
