Nine new members have joined the House Financial Services Committee as the 119th Congress begins. These individuals bring diverse backgrounds and experiences to their roles.
Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich. 9) continues her leadership role as Chairwoman of the Conference for the 119th Congress, after a career spanning over three decades in financial services at Hantz Financial.
Rep. Maria Salazar (R-Fla. 27), a five-time Emmy Award-winning journalist known for interviewing Fidel Castro, focuses on human rights and economic development.
Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind. 3), a fourth-generation farmer with experience in both the Indiana Senate and House, returns to Congress after serving from 2010-2016.
Rep. Troy Downing (R-Mont. 2) has transitioned from academia and technology entrepreneurship to politics, bringing his military experience from the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard into his freshman term.
Rep. Tim Moore (R-N.C. 14) started his political journey as a page in North Carolina's General Assembly before serving in its House of Representatives for over two decades.
Rep. Mike Haridopolos (R-Fla. 8), an educator in history and political science, also served in Florida's Senate and House before joining Congress as a freshman member.
Rep. Janelle Bynum (D-Ore. 5), who began her career at General Motors, brings eight years of legislative experience from Oregon’s House of Representatives into her new role.
Rep. Cleo Fields (D-La. 6) founded Young Adults for Positive Action at age eighteen and has held various legislative positions since 1990, including a previous term in the U.S House of Representatives.
Lastly, Rep. Sam Liccardo (D-Calif. 16) transitions from local governance as San Jose's former mayor to his freshman congressional term after working as a prosecutor and city council member.
