AFSA is recognizing Women’s History Month by highlighting notable female leaders in the consumer credit industry. One such leader, Kelly Lipinski, shared her insights on her career journey.
Lipinski emphasized the importance of clarity and straightforwardness in addressing complex legal and business issues. "I have learned how important it is to articulate risk, recommendations and feedback in a really digestible manner," she said. She believes that making comments easy to understand helps colleagues evaluate them effectively.
Reflecting on mentorship during her early career, Lipinski acknowledged having several mentors who encouraged her curiosity. "There is not a singular insight but I recall being empowered to ask questions," she noted, emphasizing the value of inquiry without fear of judgment.
When asked what advice she would give her younger self about career building, Lipinski highlighted the significance of personal connections. "How important it is to share not only substantive information but also to connect with people as humans," she advised. According to Lipinski, trust as a legal advisor extends beyond technical skills; it requires character understanding and respect.
