AFSA is observing Women's History Month by highlighting notable female leaders in the consumer credit sector. One of these leaders, Corinne Kirkendall, shares insights from her career journey.
Kirkendall emphasizes the importance of adhering to one's values while showing grace to others. She believes that maintaining integrity and compassion enriches personal and professional life. "A valuable life lesson is to stay true to your values while showing grace to others," she states. This approach, she suggests, fosters positive relationships and a supportive environment.
Reflecting on mentorship in her early career, Kirkendall credits Tom Hudson for his guidance. "Tom always took the time to sit with me and discuss the auto industry, current events or legal topics," she recalls. His encouragement helped her discover a passion for compliance and lobbying within the auto industry.
When asked what advice she would give her younger self about building a career, Kirkendall stresses the importance of reflection and reassessment of goals. She advises setting boundaries and being authentic as key elements for a fulfilling career. "Maintaining a positive attitude... allows you to see challenges as opportunities," she notes.
