Electronic Payments Coalition launches video series against Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Bill

The Electronic Payments Coalition (EPC) has released a three-part video series as part of its “Guard Your Card” campaign. The initiative aims to inform Americans about the potential risks associated with the Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Bill. According to EPC, the proposed legislation could eliminate credit card rewards programs, weaken consumer data security, and reduce access to credit for those who need it most.

Each video in the series addresses one of these concerns. The campaign, which is funded by a seven-figure budget, began airing across digital platforms and on television in Washington, DC, and nationwide in August. It will continue throughout the year. The “Guard Your Card” campaign encourages Americans to write to their Members of Congress in opposition to the Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Bill.

EPC Executive Chairman Richard Hunt commented on the campaign's progress: “Americans are making their voices heard – more than two million letters have flooded Congress opposing the Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Bill. EPC is proud to activate even more Americans with the launch of our new ‘Guard Your Card’ campaign video series. It is clear Americans value their credit card and trust the current system. The Durbin-Marshall mandates would harm consumers by calling current data protections, rewards, and credit access into question just to line the pockets of corporate mega-stores who stand to benefit the most from these new mandates on your credit card.”
