AFSA has issued a warning to its members about scams involving offers of member contact lists. The organization reports that some individuals are contacting AFSA members by phone and email, claiming to provide access to these lists.
"DO NOT ENGAGE WITH ANY COMPANY OR INDIVIDUAL OFFERING MEMBER LISTS," the association stated.
AFSA clarified that legitimate member contact information is always available through the official AFSA Member Directory. In addition, attendees of AFSA events will receive attendee lists before conferences and can access contact details using the AFSA Events app.
The association advised members to verify the authenticity of any solicitation that appears related to AFSA by carefully checking URLs or email addresses. Messages from sources other than AFSA should be disregarded, and members are instructed not to click on links or reply to suspicious messages. Anyone who receives such solicitations or has questions is encouraged to contact an AFSA staff person directly.
